What would you do with a week of uninterrupted focus?
One person. One project. One week.
The Fresnel Residency gives you the time and space to move an idea forward.
A week at Sea Ranch Lodge in California, with no scheduled programming, just room to concentrate.
You choose the week, subject to availability.
What would you work on?
Write a first draft. Build something that works. Record a few songs. Test a hunch.
Bring a specific project. Give it your full attention.
What is a fresnel lens?
Augustin-Jean Fresnel’s 19th century lens invention allowed lighthouses to focus light into a powerful, concentrated beam and throw it out to sea.
The special lens used a series of concentric prisms, capturing a much higher percentage of the light emitted from a lamp than conventional lenses.
We took inspiration from the fresnel lens’ ability to focus light and energy to start the Fresnel Residency.
In the hustle and bustle of modern life, it feels near impossible and a guilty indulgence to get away and spend uninterrupted time to concentrate and focus your own thoughts. To do deep thinking.
7 days might not be enough to finish a project, but the residency is designed to be an inflection point where you can accelerate your momentum, make significant progress, or catalyze a new start.
